Monday – October 2

7th Period

  • SSR Reading
  • Read the Short Story, “You Are Special”
  • Fill out the Story Elements Graphic Organizer using my example.

Tuesday – October 3

2nd Period

  • Respond to the following prompt in Google daily journal– Title: “Tasty Tuesday”– What is your favorite kind of cereal and do you eat it any certain way? Tell me why. 
  • Lesson over Poetry – Tercet Poems
  • Read several examples
  • Start brainstorming and drafting your own poem.

7th Period

  • SSR Reading
  • Review Elements of a Short Story
  • Read the Story “Scribble Stones”
  • Complete Story Elements Graphic Organizer for Scribble Stones

 

Wednesday – October 4

2nd Period

  • Respond to the following prompt in Google daily journal– Title: “Would You Rather Wednesday”–Would you rather be able to fly or turn invisible?  Explain why.
  • Review Figurative Language Study as a class.
  • Take a knowledge test over figurative language.

7th Period

  • SSR Reading
  • Work on editing/revising our Tercet Poems
  • Guided Quiz over our Short Story

Thursday – October 5

2nd Period

  • Respond to the following prompt in your Writing journal– Title: “Think About It Thursday” – Do you think that it is important to recycle, reuse, and repurpose?  Why or why not? What are some things we could recycle in our classroom?
  • Reviewing how to Identify a Theme – We will Discuss “theme” in relation to the 4 Short Stories we have read so far.

7th Period

  • SSR Reading
  • Start filling out your book report/talk sheet.
  • Tercet Poems DUE TODAY!

Friday – October 6

2nd Period

  • Respond to the following prompt in your daily journal–Title:  “FriYay”– Write down a memory, quote, phrase, or positive thought that makes you feel Happy and add it to our “JOY JAR”.  Please use complete sentences and keep it school appropriate.
  • Continue reading our novel series as a class.

7th Period

  • SSR Reading
  • Give your book talk/book report to Mrs. G
